Next, you remove the flywheel & spacer off the crankshaft flange, I used a 1/2 drive electric impact gun to remove the 8 flywheel bolts!
Now you will have access to the rear main seal, if you decide to change it, Note: the seal was superseded with a new spring less type seal & comes with a plastic install disc right out the box, this must be left on during installation of the seal, so that inner rubber seal seats behind the crankshaft flange!
It is imperative that the inside seal faces towards the front of engine block, after it seats behind the flange! Yes, I made the mistake of discarding that plastic disc before I installed the new crankshaft
seal & it leaked like a leaky faucet & I had to remove the trans to replace it again, I decided to track down the original spring style rear main seal & installed that one with no issues!

At this point, your manual trans, should be set up & ready to install, meaning new fluid & seals, clutch fork, throwout bearing, pivot pin, spring clip, slave cylinder & shifter all in place &
ready to go...be to sure grease the input shaft, throwout bearing, clutch fork, & pivot pin with lithium grease!
ready to go...be to sure grease the input shaft, throwout bearing, clutch fork, & pivot pin with lithium grease!
Time to install the pilot bearing in the crank flange, be sure to clean the inside of the flange up with some fine scotch brite pad & wipe clean with a rag & apply a some grease. Find a socket that fits over the outer race of the bearing & light tap into place until in seats flush.
Next, install flywheel & be sure to use loctite & torque the flywheel bolts to crankshaft. Then using your clutch aligning tool, install your clutch disc & then pressure plate, also use loctite on the pressure plate to flywheel bolts, be sure to torque these also! Refer to your Bentley Service Manual for the torque specs. The rest of the trans install can be viewed in the pelican clutch installation links below:
Note: I used the Bavarian Autosport Brake Self Bleeder Kit to bleed the entire brake system & clutch slave cylinder with ease, by myself!
